ACCESS cross-sectoral summerschool September 23-27, 2013

Haus der Wissenschaft (House of Science), Bremen, Germany.
The ACCESS cross-sectoral summerschool is organized and hosted by the ACCESS partners Alfred Wegener Institute – Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) and Ocean Atmosphere Systems GmbH (OASys) and co-sponsored by the Helmholtz Graduate School for Polar and Marine Research (POLMAR).
»Click here for more information (Presentations, Students'reports).
The aim of the summerschool is to provide the students an opportunity to learn about the different aspects of Arctic climate change, changes in the environment, the economic sectors of shipping, tourism, fisheries, oil and gas exploitation as well as governance. Experts from all of these fields will give an insight into recent developments and present their view on chances and risks connected to the changes in the climate system and associated changes in the economic sectors. The students will be able to work in small groups on topics related to cross-sectoral questions in the context of Arctic climate change, economy and society. They will present their results to a group of experts and are provided with the opportunity to publish them in the ACCESS Newsletter.
The summerschool is open for ca. 20 participants from Science, Business and Public Administration and is intended for graduate level and above.
There will be no fee for the participation in the summerschool. Costs for meals, accommodation and transport will have to be covered at the students' own expenses.
Application is possible until all places are filled under the email of Lilian Schubert (Lilian.Schubert@awi.de) and Michael Karcher (michael@oasys-research.de).
